We are a metal fabrication subcontractor that runs high quality custom projects for large industrial clients. Helping well known European companies that outsource their metal welded assemblies or subassemblies is what we do best, by using highly skilled employees, robust equipment and a rigorous work ethic.
Stelco produces a broad range of steel structures: machine frames, chassis, trailers, custom made equipment, special containers and industrial racks, platforms, and many other related products.
Our facility is a 5000 square meters factory where we process annually more than 1000 tons of steel, while working with less than 100 employees.
Our expertise enables us to supply companies like WAGNER (Powder coating systems, Germany), DEXION (Industrial racks, UK), ELDON (Electrical enclosures, Sweden), Otto Martin (Woodworking machines, Germany), SDMO (Generators, France), Agria Ispania (Four wheel forklifts, Spain).
Our mission is that of delivering custom high quality metal works at a fast pace, by using highly skilled employees that are open to learning and improving on a continuous basis, robust equipment and a rigorous work ethic. We use our extensive expertise, our network of collaborators and all our resources in order to maximize our partners’ return on investment.
Our aim is to make the “invisible sector” a bit more visible through our own steady growth, an increased know-how and a larger diversity of products and services. We believe that the highly fragmented metalworking european market can increase its competitivity only through cooperation, partnerships and openness for what the future may bring.
We will maintain the highest level of professionalism, integrity, honesty and fairness in our relationships with our general contractors’ customers, professional associates and suppliers. As an essential rule, we always avoid seeking the short term profit from a new project, in favour of developing long term partnerships with our customers.
As the world is changing and as engineering goes a step further every day, we would like to participate in this effort, and lay our own contribution towards a more organized, more efficient and more environmentally friendly planet.
The man-machine approach is our way of dealing with each and every project, by using the resources at hand, both material and human. Our highly skilled employees are able to perform manual tasks that compete with the output of the machines. Therefore, we can deliver high quality finishings and sometimes perform operations that would otherwise require top technology equipment.
Stelco’s team of workers, welders, fitters, CNC operators and engineers is not only multidisciplinary but has a problem solving and highly customer oriented mentality, hence the custom workflows and ingenious solutions for inherent production difficulties when it comes to custom products.
As a subcontractor in metalworking and steel fabrication we have customers from different fields in the industrial and the steel construction sector. The experience of working within diverse businesses, each with unique requirements, has provided our staff with the insights and skills needed to tackle complicated projects.
For various industries:
For the constructions sector:
Laser cutting is a versatile technology used to cut metals. It can immediately cut any two dimensional shape with a precision of less than one tenth of a millimeter. Lasers are also good in prototyping, because changes in pieces can be done at superior speed, thus new prototypes can be produced faster.
Lasers also help drastically reduce the time of launching a product or a structure from the prototyping phase to the production phase.
Punch presses are developed for high flexibility and efficient processing of metal stampings. The main areas of application are small and medium runs. The punching machines are typically equipped with a linear die carrier (tool carrier) and quick change tools.
The method is used where lasers are inefficient or technically impractical. They are cost effective and very fast.
Steel pieces that are cut on laser, punching machines or even on a guillotine, need to be transformed from their two dimensional flat shape in three dimensional shape were steel will gain strength and functionality.
We currently own two CNC press brakes and three hydraulic presses where we can bend flat steel but also any other profiles in three dimensional, complicated shapes.
Our stamping department has five mechanical presses from 50 to 150 tons. We can stamp and bend pieces to customer requirements. In several cases, steel fabrications require smaller parts to be welded on the bigger assemblies.
Sometimes, when in big quantities, these parts can be done cheaper through stamping.
A steel fabrication shop needs the right people with the relevant experience in order to prepare, assemble and weld the steel pieces into products. Experienced welders and steel fabricators need to pass several stages to master their trade, a thing which requires years of experience.
Steel is the most versatile structural material. It can have any shape, it can hold thousands of tons, it can be extremely hard if heat treated, it can produce precise assemblies if machined and put together properly, but it rusts. Therefore, protection through painting is important.
The best way to remove scale and rust from steel structures is shot blasting. Abrasive blasting is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface and remove surface contaminants.
Although still very common in the industrial world, conventional liquid painting is becoming less widespread due to the fact that powder coating is virtually harmless to the environment, while liquid paints will emit VOC’s. However, liquid coatings do offer some advantages over powder coatings, and costs are sometimes higher with powder coating and vice versa.
Whatever it is the case, the preparation method is important for the paint coat to be durable in the long term. With sand blasting we achieve the best possible adherence between steel and paint coat. Stelco is able to offer both options.
